Violence

All violence and killing is wrong, it is an evil. As a Christian, I don’t believe we can take up our cross until we put down our weapons. One cannot believe in the self-sacrificial love of Jesus dying on a cross while still believing killing can solve problems.

Once someone believes killing is a valid answer, it is just a matter of who to kill or what issue to kill over. We see this with David in the Bible. He killed Goliath and is a hero, people still rejoice over this. Read on in the Bible; David had planned to kill Nabal and all the men that belonged to Nabal (1 Sam. 25). It continues to get worse as he has Uriah killed to cover up his own sin (2 Sam. 11-12). Too many in this country have put their faith in violence and killing to solve problems. This is clear in the amount of money spent by individuals for guns and the amount the country spends on weapons of war. There is a lot of violence in the Bible; especially in the Old Testament, however this all changes in the New Testament. After Jesus; there is no story in the Bible of God’s people killing.

Sadly, this is rarely taught in Church, we need the Church to turn back to Jesus and start to lead.
